I asked my wife who is an M.D. about this. She said it's uncommon for
the effects of caffeine withdrawal to last more than 36 hours and are
usually gone within 24.
I love coffee on the trail and always take it on shorter trips. However,
on my 3-4 week thru-hike marathons I tend to spend too much time lulling
about in the morning if I have coffee. It also means packing extra fuel
in addition to the coffee.
