Someone wrote that he thought you should not make eye contact and back away
slowly when encountering a bear. After reading the article in the bear website
I found this to be true .-- but ONLY when you encounter a bear in HIS domain,
such as in a berry patch. Don't give him a reason to defend that berry patch,
and never approach him, for example, to get a close up shot
However, just the opposite is true when a bear enters YOUR domain, in other
words your campsite. You must not act submissive in any way because he will
interpret your actions as a message that it is safe to be there and do as he
pleases
Didn't want anyone to get it wrong.
