I had suspected, and the pictures that Robert posted a link to confirm,
that the floods piled up a LOT of trees along the riverbanks and across
the channel.  It's entirely possible that there could be log crossing
found for most of the major river crossings, though of course such a
thing is not at all guaranteed.
