Dogs don't sit at home and think:

"gee, I think I'd like to walk the 2658-mile Pacific Crest Trail next 
summer.
It will be okay, because I'll take breaks when I need to rest.
I'll walk when I want to walk.
I'll take a zero day when I want to take a zero day.
I don't mind extreme heat and cold, because I'm prepared for that.
I run around at the park on the weekends, that's a lot like hiking.
I know what I'm getting into."

Leave your dog at home.
