[pct-l] if we're introducing ourselves...

Hi folks,

My name is Kelly - sometimes I go by Detour - and I'm a 26 year female
hiker living in Washington, DC (I know - that seems like an
anachronism). I'm a writer, currently applying to grad school, driving
myself crazy trying to figure out why there are so many damn forms to
fill out before I can spend $30,000/yr and go into crazy amounts of
debt.

I hiked for about a month this summer in the Sierra, from Kennedy
Meadows north - with some great help from Mad Monte, who dispensed
cross-country email advice to a woman who'd - shockingly! - only heard
of John Muir about a year ago.

But I'm not a novice hiker, just a primarily eastern one; I've been
section hiking on the AT and CDT since college. I usually hike alone,
and while I strive to keep my pack as light as possible, I wouldn't say
that I'm a lightweight hiker quite yet. I love my Sierra Designs Clip
Flashlight tent - and I think that would be verboten.

This coming summer, schedule and grad school permitting, I'll be on the
AT for a few months - hiking the PCT end to end is a dream that I
probably won't realize for a few years. But this list-serv is such a
joy, and I'm saving up all your gems for when I get back out there.

Yrs,
Kelly
