[pct-l] So Cal Fires

Just to let all of you northerners know. Southern Cal is burning to the ground. I live 10 miles from Julian as the crow flies. There is nothing but smoke everywhere. To answer your questions about the PCT, the trail goes by Cuyamaca Reservoir past Mt. Laguna. The whole community of Cuyamaca is burned down. I would assume the trail is burned over there. I think the fire is now approaching the area of scissors crossing. Julian has not burned yet, but many homes near it have been burned down. The fire is heading into the area of Barrel springs and
coming close to Warner Springs. So it will probably effect the trail in these areas. However, these areas burned down two years ago, so probably not much additional damage. In addition 9 miles of trail were burned over in the Chihuahua Valley area of Section B in July of this year.
As far as the Big Bear area, more bad news. The fire had not got to the trail at the time of this writing, however the wind is blowing it into the Lake Arrowhead, Deep Creek, and Big Bear areas. There is a strong possibility it will hit the trail in this area in the next couple of days. I will let you all know further over the next couple of days.
