Wow.  That article is amazing.  I can't even imagine the force that would 
have taken out the Suiattle River bridge.  And all the others.

At least there is a bit of humor in the article:  "For example, several 
thousand 'through-hikers' travel the entire 2,000-mile length of the Pacific 
Crest Trail, from Mexico to Canada, every year."

Several THOUSAND completed thru-hikes each year.  hee hee.
