There is no need to compress a good down bag.  In the
interest of weight reduction, I have dumped sleeping
bag stuff sacks.  Since I carry a plastic compactor
bag in the bottom of my pack anyway, to protect the
few things that must always stay dry, I stuff my down
sleeping bag loosely into that.  It stays dry, and I
don't have to compact the bag to do it.
