20 pounds is comfy, 25 fine IMO. I had 34 pounds in Yosemite last year,
including a bear can and 9 days of food. The first day was fine, but on day
two I didn't have the bear can balanced right in the pack, and was not as
comfortable. Still, more comfortable than 50 pounds in a frame pack.
