Perhaps you can explain why the bears are so much smarter in the Sierras and
are able to get hung food while the bears in Yellowstone who have far more
experience at getting food from people, can't. There are plenty of designated
spots in the Sierra. They don't use poles there because they don't work.
Obviously, something else is at work here. Guess I'll just have to send an e-mail to
Yellowstone for an explanation rather than rely on speculation. I'm guessing
they harass problem bears until they get the message that humans mean trouble,
while the Sierra people see having more regulations as a cheap, easy "solution
to the problem. Face it. They view the user as the problem, not their
management.
Read my last post again for an explanation of the Yellowstone restrictions
on off trail travel. Yellowstone is America's equivalent of the African
Savannah. The Sierra's ain't.
