70s sound low to me... it's 90 right now in Susanville and I would
expect Hat Creek Rim to be at least as warm.

You might check with Amigo to see if the water cache at Road 22 is stocked.
Better yet, stash your own.

By far the best food I've had in that area is 1.5 miles *west* of
the PCT (i.e. about 10 miles west of Chester) on SR 36 at St. Bernard's
Lodge.
