Bridgeport is a great trail town.  When I went through
in 2000 there was a laundry and a shower facility on
the same block.  The grocery store was well stocked
and they had some great food in town. 

As for hitching into Bridgeport it was a bit long.  We
ended up paying some guy to give us a ride back to the
trail.

All in all it is worth the stop.
