[pct-l] JMT resupply/hot springs

The PCT guide should give proper addresses for resupply points. I prefer
using Vermillion Valley Resort as a maildrop simply because it is extremely
hiker friendly. The pro-hiker ambience is not to be missed. Red's is far
more neutral, as they see thousands of tourists a day. However, Red's free
hot spring shower house is excellent (the longest hottest shower you will
ever have, rustic surroundings), and there is a hiker campsite in the car
campground at Red's. Red's Meadow has a comprehensive grocery store, plus
bus access to stores in Mammoth, so I wouldn't use it for a resupply. There
are two other great hot springs close to JMT--Kern Hot Spring in Kern Canyon
(a small concrete tub with infinite hot water and a fine campsite nearby)
and Iva Bell Hot Spring (several natural tubs of varying temp and many nice
campsites) west of Tully Hole in Cascade Valley. I have been to both many
times. I haven't been to Blayney--I hear it is muddy--but plan to visit all
three this year.
Contact me off-list if you want me to give you those resupply addresses.
