Nathan,
I make some observations about using a Palm on the trail on my site:
www.cupcakewalk.com/journal/system.html.  That page also includes what I
think are the best towns for bouncing a laptop.

I had my own itinerary (in Excel) on my Palm, but could not find any
digital version of any of the books.

The town guide and data book seem like easy ideal candidates.  I may
look into that someday.  I talked to Ben Schifrin (sp?) (author of the
So. CA guidebook) at ADZ.  He says the publisher continues to be opposed
to releasing Palm versions of the books.
