[pct-l] Section Hikers Ho!

Snow off the lava fields of Oregon? Probably too early to say, but I have
been to Sisters over the 4th of July a few times and have always been able
to hike into Green Lakes from the south. And one year I did Santiam Pass to
Three Fingered Jack at that time. But, snow still was around, especially in
the trees. Definitely could find camping spots and the days/nights were not
cold. Rangers figured that by the middle of July the snow would totally be
gone. I imagine the snow is off the lava fields earlier, but you are only
talking about a few hours hike through those.

So, based on that, I wouldn't want to venture out until sometime after July
10th. But, who knows. It has still been pretty cool and lots of snow
showing around Mt. Hood. If it starts getting warm, there goes the snow. If
you are flexible, call the ranger station for an update.
