[pct-l] bugs, tarps and other random thoughts

hello all.

just joined the list.  planning for the PCT this summer KM to Canada starting
july 4.  i can't beleive i just now came across this website. anyway...

i'm out on the east coast (boston) so bear with me.  with the late start i'm
not planning on carrying  crampons.  just the axe.  good idea/ bad idea?

am i going to run into any problems with dry creeks by then or will the creeks
be dangerously swollen with snowmelt?

i made a jardine tarp with bug tent a couple of years ago and will likely use
it but i intrigued by the tarps a got a glimpse of in the kickoff day pics.
(tarp, front netting, single front pole and lowered half moon shaped rear)
anyone know where i could find the design for this thing?

i'm planning on cooking Quinona pasta most every night (high-yield, fast
cooking, tasty).  anyone have any particularly yummy and simple sauce recipes
for the trail?

any other comments or suggestions are welcome.
