3. How's the snowpack looking?

The snow pack in the southern Sierras is well below normal and showing steep
declines of meltoff already. There appears to be little or no snow up to
9,000 feet, with about a foot up to 10,000 feet and about 20 inches at Upper
Tyndall Creek station at 11,400 feet just south of Forrester Pass and 49
inches (on March 29th) at the Bighorn Plateau station at 11,350 feet.

HOWEVER, it is still too early to say that these declines are in their final
run. It is currently only early April and significant snow storms often do
come in April and sometimes in May.

Historically, it is looking like a below normal year (approx. 65-70% of
average) that will result in an early High Sierra meltoff.

I will wager that this will be an excellent weather year to hike the trail,
provided that snows do not begin too early in the Fall in the Nth Cascades.

IMHO, YMMV, TAOTWAGOS (take all of this with a grain of salt),
