Contrary to an earlier post about instep crampons being dangerous if you
don't know what you're doing, I'd have to say that they are necessary and not
complicated and not dangerous unless you don't put them on right or tight
enough.  The Yak Traxx - type things are underkill, IMHO, for what you can
encounter in a few areas.  Most of the newer models of insteps are rigid
enough that they should stay on your running shoes and provide a lot better
traction.
