[pct-l] Sawyer Extractor Pump

Another point here, I've now seen 2 snake bites on dogs, and I can't stress
strongly enough don't panic, but get to help. Snake wounds look pretty
harmless at first, but just keep getting worse and worse over time. The
first time we dealt with this, dog got nailed on the lip on a Sundya and it
took us 7 hours to find a vet. By that time it was too late for anti-venom.
The dog's head swole like a basket ball. He could barly breathe. The
sweeling contiued to grow for days Ultimately it changed his personality,
and he lost most of his lip.

Second dog was less furry and more trusting so I was able to suck one of the
two fang holes. We got to the vet in 2 hours (The dog walked.) Just about
the time we got to the vet, the swelling realy set in. Vet was out for
lunch. During that hour head and neck swole till she could not lift her
head from the floor. Anti-venom was given at about hour 3. The swelling
stopped an then gradually abated over several days (the untreated dog had
continued to swell.) She lost only a chunk of skin maybe an inch by a
quater inch on the second fang hole that I could not get my lips on. The
hole that I sucked healed just fine.

By the way, I have live in the desert for 20 years and grew up very near
Campo. Yes there are snakes, but you need not fear them. They are not
agressive and will not pursue you EVER. The dogs got bit because they are
stupid and attacked the snakes. Just keep your eyes open, stay calm and
enjoy our beautiful creatures.
