[pct-l] Re: AquaMira

As I mentioned in a post some weeks ago, I have decided to use chlorine
dioxide (aka AquaMira or Pristine) for water purification when needed. I
purchased Pristine from www.southsummit.com There is a great deal of
information about chlorine dioxide on the internet, but the most succinct
description I could find is as follows (from South Summit's website):

Well, okay that wasn't particularly succinct, but it summarizes information
found in various scientific and technical reports on the web. After my
earlier post, I received a lot of feedback from several folks on the list
who have been using AquaMira and are very enthusiastic about it.

I also have been using grapefruit seed extract for dental hygiene for some
time now, and have recently learned GSE is available as a water disinfectant
called Traveler's Friend. This might interest someone:
www.nutribiotic.com/travelersfriend.htm

Finally, I have just learned about the Survival Straw. I have asked the
mfr. for more detailed information, but you might want to see it for
yourself on their website: www.alloysafe.com It is also sold on Cabela's
online store. If this 2-ounce item pans out, it could let you drink hearty
at water sources, while waiting for your chemical water treatment to purify
the liters you will carry onward.
