In the area you reference, late April / early May is still somewhat variabl=
e (spring conditions).  Extreme heat and cold are not common around that ti=
me, but then, perceptions are relative to the individual.   Trail condition=
s are good; the volunteer crews have been working in this area.  Despite th=
e ominous sound of crossing the Mojave, this is probably one of the most ho=
spitable areas on the entire trail.  But then, I might be biased.  Hope to =
see you in hiker heaven . . .
