Oregon would be good for a week-long hike.  Compared to the rest of the PCT,
Oregon is pretty flat.  The PCT is a different trail than the AT.  The most
noticeable differences are (1) the trail is not as steep  (2) because of
that you do bigger mile days  (3) the scenery is WAY more open (no green
tunnel).  Oregon is BEAUTIFUL.  All those volcanos sit out there and
dominate your world.  You're very aware that the area was "alive" in the
recent past.

Whitney:  Maybe someone else on the list can give an idea of what the trail
up the "front side" is like.  I've been up twice, but both times from the
PCT side.
