[pct-l] JMT info

Since most PCT through hikers will be in the High Sierras during the end of
June/early July, you would be there with most of them, although probably
going the other direction. There will be snow on the passes at that time of
year. Too early for many flowers except in the valleys. The views are
awesome. And there will be mosquitoes in the valleys if it is warm. Water
isn't going to be a problem - you will cross many streams with more water
than you like - that means fording. Wait a month, and the water levels will
be down and the snow will be mostly gone (views different, but still grand).
But, there will also be more people on the trails.

Trail runners would work - they will get wet in the snow. Many people use
light weight boots at that time of year in the Sierras. All depends on the
snow level. Since you will need to do stream crossing, consider taking light
weight sandals.

>From Tuolumne Meadows to Whitney, the PCT book covers the trails. I'm sure
there are others just for the JMT.

Have fun!
