[pct-l] Tincture of Benzoin

Paul asked,

> Could I get some opinions on the usage of Tincture of Benzoin please?
For instance: Does it help? What type of problems does it present? What
application methods are recommended? Personal experiences would also be
helpful.

Tincture of benzoin is commonly used as a tape adherent when desiring to
tape your feet with duct tape or any other type of tape. Use a swab to
apply it and let it dry so it becomes sticky or tacky. Apply the tape
and then use either powder or a lubricant to cut the stickiness not
covered by the tape. This keeps your socks from sticking to the benzoin
on your feet. Be sure to do this if applying benzoin to the toes. You
really don't want your toes sticking together. Applying tape without it
is not really smart since the oils on the skin will keep the tape from
sticking as well. Some folks use it as a skin toughened. But it does
turn the skin a reddish tinge.

Fixing Your Feet has a whole chapter on tape adherents. Tincture comes
in liquid form but can also be found in swabs.
