[pct-l] Rules on the trail.

But the current regulations do not prohibit hiking without a bear
canister...They merely prohibit camping without an approved method of food
storage. Be it fixed bear boxes or portable bear cans. When i was questioned
by a backcountry range last year, I stated that my partner about a mile
ahead of me was carrying a large expedition size canister and that all food
would be stored in it when we met up and pitched camp at the end of the
day..this appeased the Ranger. So, you can see that enforcing an arbitrary
one hiker, one canister rule will not be very easy and the charges would
rarely stick. I would expect 100% of the tickets issued to be dismissed in
court.

The rangers will need to patrol campsites...good luck in finding all of the
stealth sites...

Maybe we can get the UN to provide "Can Inspectors"...and then lobby for
more time to complete the inspections...Until at least December
