Nope, you don't need something waterproof for the Sierras. In fact, you
don't WANT anything waterproof.  Your feet will be wet a lot of the time.
Wet from fording, wet from postholing, wet from the trail that turns into a
stream.  The only thing waterproof shoes will do differently from other
shoes is that the waterproof shoes will never dry out.

My advice is stick with your NB, but make sure they have good tread on the
bottom.  I really like the NB 904's.
