[pct-l] Goal Oriented Hiking.
> What are your goals?
> What makes you go to the outdoors?
When I head out on a section hike of the PCT or CDT by myself, and I'm out
there for longer than ten days, I invariably have a peak experience of sorts
that affects how I live my life when I go back to civilization.
I don't have this as a goal. I start hiking alone to see what happens. In
retrospect, this is what happens, so now I'm going to call it a goal. "My
goal for hiking alone on the PCT/CDT is to see what happens."
I plan for a length of time and distance, but let go of this in the first
week to ten days. I'm curious about what is going to happen. I'm always
surprised.
When I hike with others my curiousity is narrowed and lost. The plan is
followed and I find myself making sure I don't just space out and go where I
may emotionally, or spiritually, or physically.
I like the question. Thanks for asking it!
