[pct-l] Benefits of Reduced Calorie Intake



While I agree that the scientific study of mice was flawed and most likely
prejudiced too boot, something is causing those Bristlecones to live far, far
longer than they normally do at timberline. A Bristlecone lives no longer
than most other pines 1000 feet below timberline.  Logic would seem to
dictate the opposite result since conditions are much harsher for the
Methuselah. An evolutionary induced lower rate of metabolism is postulated as
a possible cause. Relevant to animals? As you said, lower caloric intake
apparently causes mammals to live longer. A flawed experiment does not
automatically discredit an assumed conclusion
