Two of us that camped at the awesome tarn above Guitar Lake and stored all
our gear in one tent the following morning. We took one pack with our
clothes and snacks we needed for the day. We were a little leary of leaving
everything unattended, especially with all the marmots running around, but
everything was fine when we returned.
They also had bear boxes at Crabtree Meadows where you could store your gear
for the day, but that would make for a 16 mile or so round trip.
That little tarn above Guitar Lake remains one of the, if not the, best
campsites I've ever stayed and makes for an easy hike up to Whitney.
