I'm trying to decide between lightweight cotton and nylon convertible pants in southern california.  Here's my thinking so far:

LIGHTWEIGHT COTTON:  More breathable, stays wetter which keeps me cooler, more comfortable.  But, heavier.

NYLON:  Lightweight, better sun protection.  But, gets sticky, plasticky feeling after enough sunscreen, deet and sweat builds up on skin.  And doesn't breathe well.  And not as durable as cotton.

I'm leaning towards cotton.  But open to change if I hear good enough arguments for nylon.

So, any input, opinions, or personal preferences and why would be very helpful.
