Here is some information about Ishi, most of it very dry info regarding
returning his remains to California, but a little about his life and
culture.

"Although we know a great deal of Ishi's life there is absolutely no
reliable information that could lead to living relatives. The tragic
nature of Ishi's life apparently made it difficult for him to discuss
anything of his family or anyone else who he had known prior to 1911. The
University of California researchers, who conducted extensive
anthropological interviews, did not press for such details in light of
his apparent distress at speaking of such matters (T. Kroeber 1961;
Waterman 1918:69). Because of this, there is no recorded information on
Ishi's family, kin, or lineage. Kroeber inferred that the old woman found
when surveyors accidently found Ishi's camp in 1908 was Ishi's mother,
and the linguistic information he provided suggested that the other woman
seen in the camp was either Ishi's sister or a cousin (T. Kroeber
1961:109; Waterman 1918). Even this information cannot be verified. "
Two books about Ishi are available here:
