I took a Scout group from Bishop Pass to Taboose Pass the last week of JULY
that year. Ranger George at Little Pete Meadow said he'd only seen 30 hikers
all summer. Rivers were high, some bridges were out, and Mather Pass still
had an 8-foot wall of snow. We believe we were the first to do that section
southbound that year. Only saw two groups on the trail, including 4 gals
northbound on the PCT.
