[pct-l] Snowboard the PCT

[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]
Actually no. Our local Olympia paper had an article about a Climbing ranger
who Snowboards off the summit of Rainier. ( He has climbed the mountain 150
times) This seems like a very dangerous hobby where speed and crevasses are
in the picture.
Our Northwest loses several snowboarders a year either on our mountains
or in " Off Limits" areas of ski runs. Most are young teen and early twenty
types with little knowledge of the backcountry or snow harzards. This type of
article is sure to bring trouble as Mt. Rainier is not a large version of Big
Bear or Squaw Valley. I can hear it now, " Ya dude, I plan to do a narly 360
over that 20 foot crevasse followed by a double flip on my way down the
Ingrams Ice Fall!!""
On the plus side, the country always needs more organ donors. (
Snowboarding off the summit of Rainier is BAD)
