I have an issue regarding bikes on the trail: has it occurred to
anyone what the consequences would be once a bear got a hold of a
mountain bike? How the Hell am I going to get my food back when a
mountain biking bear stealthily coasts into my camp and nabs my food
sacks? Have you ever tried to throw a rock at a bear on a bike
zipping away with your food!? Not possible! Furthermore, I've envied
and marvel at the speeds which a mountain biker flies down the hill,
but I cringe at the thought of ever coming face to hairy face with an
Kamikaze bear careering down the trail on a mountain bike. You wouldn't
stand a chance. And worse yet, have you ever been cussed out by a
bear. Their mouth can be very foul and hurtful.
Dave
P.S. nothing against bikers, hikers or food sacks, but my dad is a
bear. ;-)
