[pct-l] Bear Hang and Bear Canisters

Well man, you have SMART bears and STUPID people. What do you expect?

It ain't like I haven't posted how to pack a bear canister on every freaking
board imaginable. Even the Inyo Rangers had sense enough to rip it off. But
Joe average weekender? No way!!

We can shoot bears or shoot people. Your choice.

Tom

The fundamental problem with the bear canister regulations is that people

simply don't use the canister for all their food. From a human's

point-of-view it solves the problem of a ruined section hike due to losing

ALL food to a bear but it solves neither the problem of bears getting

accustomed to human food nor the problem of bears getting more agressive in

their attempts to obtain human food.

And so the result is carrying a piece of REQUIRED gear that is of little
value without strong enforcement that is sure to offend, such as pack
searches and requiring muliple bear canisters. Just a little something to
add
stress to your day. Not a bear encounter but an encounter with a potentially
hardnosed ranger with an itchy ticket book pencil and a nose for toothpaste.
