DEFINITELY lay over a day or two in old Station, CA (between Belden [sucks!] and Burney Falls State Park [expensive rip-off station].

These people, especially manager DOUG COFFMAN, REALLY like hikers and go way out of their way to make you feel wanted, appreciated, and pampered.



Other decent places:  Mojave, CA (White's Motel); and Stehekin, WA
