[pct-l] Send your petitions to the Glad company to get the 1 quart bags back!

Hi All,

I originally sent this email from a different email address and forgot that
it was not the one that is subscribed to pct-l. Sorry if comes up duplicated
since the original message was returned saying it is awaiting moderator
approval, so I decided to send it again anyways with the right email
account.

The Glad company has stopped making/selling the 1 quart Stand and Zip bags
and only offer them in a 1/2 gallon size now. Many of us have discovered the
wonderful use of these bags in our backcountry cooking and will be searching
for a new method to replace the bags. I tend to get several uses out of my
bags, rewashing them between trips, but some meals just ruin the bags. I
have written the Glad company and expressed my love of the product (do I
need help? Love? of a plastic bag?!) and petitioned that they reconsider
bringing the product back. Maybe if enough of us write the company they just
might do that, maybe not. We won't know if we don't try.

If you wish to email Glad:

Below is a copy of what I wrote to Glad on 10/18/02. Please don't simply cut
and paste my words as your own if you write to Glad. If we do this, I'm sure
Glad will see this as spam, and disregard our pleas. Just write your own
experience with the bags in your words and that will have a much more
profound impact on the representatives at Glad.

Hello Glad,

It has come to my understanding that you are now longer making the 1 quart
version of the Glad Stand and Zip bags and are only making the 1/2 gallon
version. I am writing to tell you that the 1 quart stand and zip bags have
revolutionized the way I do my backpacking and camping and I am very
disappointed to hear that you have decided to discontinue this product. I
suppose I could continue my method of cooking my backpacking meals with the
1/2 gallon size, but they are way too large and would simply add unnecessary
weight and bulk to my backpack.

I like the 1 quart bags not only for their size and their ability to stand
up, but *especially* for the type of plastic they are made of. It seems to
be a much tougher and heat resistant form of plastic than other storage
bags. I have other camping items made of what seems to be the same material
manufactured by big fancy backpacking companies that claim their plastic
product can be boiled, frozen, stomped on, etc. Let me say it again! I
*REALLY REALLY REALLY* like...no, LOVE your 1 quart stand and zip bags.
Please accept my petition for you to consider adding this product back to
your product line. I am going to send my word out to all the folks I know
(thousands) via the many internet email lists I belong to that deal with
backpacking in all its aspects. I am going to tell them just what I am
telling you and ask them to write to your company as well and express their
own sentiments about the 1 quart Stand and Zip bags.

Sincerely,
Jason Rumohr
