The biggest danger with cooking in a tent is not the tent
catching fire, but a catastrophic failure of the fuel supply.
When the fuel tank ruptures, the tent contains the fireball
for a second or two. Guess who is in the middle of that
fireball? A tarp at least lets the fireball dissipate out
the open ends and sides to a great extent. Believe me,
I have seen this demonstrated and I would skip dinner before
I bring any kind of stove inside a tent!
