[pct-l] Re: Gear Tradeoff -- Tents versus Sleeping Bags

But God gave me a brain and I figure
I've got to use it for something. -Fallingwater

By your own testimony your brain often goes south due the constant mileage
of a thru hike. You, by your own words, make stupid mistakes. It therefore
follows that proper pitching techniques of a tarp and down bag combination
needs to be learned and mastered before commencing a thru hike. Now it is
well known that Greg is not good at forward planning. [He has five kids.]
For him, a synthetic bag and double wall tent is best.

For you, now that you have decided to use your brain, I suggest that you go
out and make some money and buy a Stephenson tent for those wet conditions.
A well pitched tarp in cold, wet conditions is an oxymoron.

As you know I don't hike the AT or in the Pacific Northwest, nor do I use a
tarp. However, that in no way deprives me of the pleasure of an insulting,
pedantic post, pompous twit that I am.
