The only permit twist you may have to worry about is if you decide
you'd like to do some peak bagging while you're out there. Mt. Adams,
in particular, is a tempting target from the PCT. 

If you're above timberline you're supposed to have a special $15
climbing permit. You can't get these at the trail, only from the ranger
station at trout lake.

On the bright side, I am pretty sure you can call up and order one in
advance to be mailed home.

Snow shouldn't be a problem on the trail by now, but again, be much
more prepared if you decide to venture any higher than it.
