 Note that Elk Lake Resort outside Bend, OR (section E) is reportedly =
closed. That makes it 94 miles from Shelter Cove Resort north to Santiam =
Pass where you can hitch into Sisters, OR - a very nice full-service =
town. =20


Elk Lake Resort is NOT closed.  It is however closed until memorial day =
or whenever the road is plowed open.  Even if Elk Lake is closed hikers =
can send packages to Big Lake Youth Camp just south of Santiam Pass and =
avoid the hitch to Sisters
