[pct-l] the "bear" is foiled !

The Garcia bear canister foiled the bear. After the "bear demonstration"
Monte took the canister and SLAMMED it on the pavement with more force than
any bear could. It was scratched but not cracked. Monte remarked that "it
was a lot tougher than I thought."

We also demonstrated the Gia aluminum bear canister which, in my less than
humble opinion, would not have held up to Monte's repeated slammings but
would probably foil a bear. Ww did not test a Bearikade althoug we had them
there.

These days bears don'e even bother with a canister. They look for easier
pickings like the EXTRA food that is in someones pack/tent because they
wouldn't take the time to pack the canister properly.
