[pct-l] Soda Springs for resupply?

Is it hiker friendly, or is one of those surly logging/resort towns? How
about prices and accomodations? I'm also looking for a good place to
send back my hardcore mountaineering gear after the High Sierras and Soda
Springs looks like it's in a good place to do so. In most years, would
you need an ice axe/crampons for Section K around the 1st week of July?
Thanks in advance.

necessity; that mountain parks and reservations are useful not only as
fountains of timber and irrigating rivers, but as fountains of life."-
