[pct-l] Section A

For those of you who will be hiking through the northern part of Section A
soon, there is some GOOD water news.

As of last Friday (April 5), Barrel Spring was running. Don't forget to treat
the water even though the sign on the nearby tree may be covered by other
notes/notices.

And ... pleeease, don't bathe in the water trough. Take some water away from
the trough and bathe nearby.

If you missed the earlier discussion of Squaw/Basket Bush vs. Poison Oak, the
plants that you see near the water trough are NOT Squaw/Basket Bush. Just a
word to the wise.

There is no water stash in the San Felipe Hills YET, but we (San Diego Sierra
Club members) plan to establish one on April 14. As in previous years, it
will be located at the 3rd pipe-gate on the trail north of Scissors Crossing.
Remember too, that Barrel Spring is only ~10 miles north of the water stash.
Hikers following you may need a bit of water also. Take what you need, but
try to leave some for your fellow hikers.

Charlie
