Excellent advice about hitching.  You might also want to check out my 
hitching notes at htp://friends.backcountry.net/m_factor/hitching.html for 
some more tips...  Mine are perhaps more relevant for the AT where there 
seem to be a lot more people and drivers around, but it can still help on 
the PCT.
