> the trail no longer exists, trust me on this,as a former so-cal hiker ive been to the allison mine many times and have tryed to take the old trail  more than once.it starts out well but peters out quickly,what is`nt eroded away is badly overgrown and it`s easy to take the wrong path(if you end up at the waterfall,you took the wrong trail go back) the one time i made it down requered rappeling and dangerous traverses,not to mention the 20(no exageration) or so crossings of the east fork. but if your determend to try ,the trail used to be located on the right side(facing downstream) of allison gulch then went up the ridge above the immpassible canyon then dropped down to a flat then easy hiking out to the river. rob
