[pct-l] Ice Axe Training in Colorado?

I've been "actively lurking" here for a few months, and am much
appreciative of all the good info this list makes available.

My wife (trailname Ready) and I plan to head north from Campo on April
25 and go as far as we can, hopefully all the way. We were both on the
AT last year, finishing at Katahdin 9/22/01, and are getting pretty
darned excited about the coming west coast hike.

We got trail permits, we got Canadian entry papers, we got plane tickets
to San Diego (and thanks to Bob Riess we got a ride to Campo arranged).

And we even got ice axes. Only thing is we've found no one yet to give
us a little self-arrest training. One problem is we live in Atlanta, GA
so there's no good local venue for this.

However, we'll be in Winter Park, Colorado from Saturday, March 30 thru
Wednesday, April 3. I asked the Chamber of Commerce there if there's any
instruction available, but they didn't know of any.

So, does anybody on the list know who we could contact to arrange say a
partial morning or afternoon of self-arrest coaching in the vicinity of
Winter Park between 3/30 and 4/3? We'll have a car, so could drive an
hour or two to meet up with someone if necessary. We're not litigious or
anything and we're not seeking a professional necessarily, just someone
who's experienced who can guide us in practicing the techniques on a
slippery slope. Of course we're willing to pay.

Can anybody out there lend us a hand?

Thanks in advance,
Spur
