 Hey Nina, Target sells a large variety of cheap Straw hats with large brims 
with work well in the desert and seem to last about two months on the trail. 
They also get more Character with age and can be decorated with feathers, 
snake skins, dead animal parts or whatever for effect!! Sun shirts with 
buttons to hold sleeves rolled and large Vented back panels are very popular 
and last years. Good luck.
