For What it is worth:
I have used little pieces of a mosquito coil (the type you light and use on
your
patio at times).
My daughter and I have used these quite successfully while trying to eat
lunch etc.
when the tarptent is not up.  We light 3 pieces about 1/2 inch each.  Put
one in-
between us and one on each side of us.  The smoky fumes they emit seem to
keep
the mosquitoes off us while eating. It works for me.
