In '97 Bug and I hiked with umbrellas. While some of the folks laughed at the idea we were able to hike thru the heat of the day in our own portable shade. They doubled dutied when in Washington and had to actually shed rain for us! It became one of the items we really used a lot. We did not carry them from Tuolomne to Cascade locks, didn't really need them then. Bob
